About ten years ago, the real estate representative that I hired to help me sell my townhome told me, "You should get rid of your dog. You could lose $10,000 on the sale of your house if you don't."

And my reply, of course, was, "Get rid of my dog? Never!"

Now, as a real estate professional myself, I often hear my colleagues complain about their sellers' dogs. They stink. They leave hair everywhere. They ruin the lawn. They scare buyers away...
